So Many Autism Approaches. How Do You Know Where To Start?

A free parent talk for Singapore families of toddlers and preschoolers who are autistic or may be autistic.

ABA. ESDM. DIR Floortime. Hanen More Than Words. Speech Therapy.

You’ve probably come across some of these names while looking for ways to support your child.

Perhaps you’ve read articles, spoken to other parents, or received different recommendations. You want to make informed decisions, but with so much information available, it’s not always easy to know what to focus on first.

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own.

Join us for a practical parent talk to help you understand the different intervention approaches, explore where speech therapy fits in, and better understand your child’s communication needs.

Topic: Understanding Autism Intervention Approaches and Your Child’s Communication

Date: 21 November 2026
Time: 2pm – 3.30pm
Venue: Singapore Shopping Centre (Dhoby Ghaut)

When there are so many options, where do you begin?

If you find yourself wondering:

  • How do I decide which approach to explore for my child?
  • What if my child has strengths in some areas but struggles in others?
  • Where does speech therapy fit alongside other forms of support?
  • What can I do at home to support my child’s communication?

These are good questions to ask because you want to give your child the support they need.

Every child has their own strengths, interests, communication abilities and support needs. An autism diagnosis alone doesn’t tell you everything about how your child understands, expresses themselves or connects with others.

Before focusing on which programme to choose, it helps to understand the child behind the diagnosis.

What you'll learn at the talk

This session is designed to help you get a clearer understanding of your options and leave with practical ideas you can start using in your everyday life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need an autism diagnosis for me to attend?

No. This talk is intended for parents of toddlers and preschoolers who have an autism diagnosis, as well as parents who are exploring whether their child may be autistic.

Will the talk tell me which intervention is best for my child?

The aim is to help you understand the different approaches and the factors to consider when exploring your options. Every child has individual strengths and support needs, so there isn’t one approach that is automatically right for every child.

Will I receive an individual assessment of my child?

This is an educational parent talk, not an individual assessment. We’ll discuss ways to understand your child’s communication profile and what you can observe in everyday interactions. Individual recommendations may require a separate assessment or consultation.

Is this talk suitable if my child is already receiving therapy?

Yes. The discussion may help you better understand different approaches, consider your child’s communication needs and think about how to support communication at home alongside existing services.

Do I need to bring my child?

No. This event is only for parents, so that time is fully dedicated to learning and discussions.

What happens after I register?

We’ll send you a confirmation with the event details. There is no obligation to sign up for speech therapy after attending the talk.

We provide speech therapy clinic sessions, home-based speech therapy and online consultations.
